AROUND THE WORLD IN SEVEN YEARS

A Journey of a Lifetime

Circumnavigating the globe aboard their homemade 36 foot sailboat, Ginger and Neil Blum and their sons, Aaron and Ethan aged 17 and 15, began the journey in 1996 from Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.  Their journey brought them through the Caribbean, the Panama Canal, the Pacific, Indian, and Atlantic Oceans.  They have visited 40 countries and home schooled the boys.

They spent time in Fiji in 1998, where they enjoyed a visit by several members of their family from Virginia.  They continued on to New Zealand, where they stayed for a while before continuing the journey to Australia.  From there they traveled to Malaysia, Thailand, India, Chagos, Seychelles, Tanzania, Madagascar, Mozambique, and around South Africa from Port Elizabeth to Cape Town before crossing the Atlantic Ocean this past March.

The family arrived in Hampton, Virginia on June 9, 2003.  After a short visit with family in Staunton, Virginia, the couple plans to live in the Hampton, Newport News area where they will both be seeking high school level teaching positions.  The boys are planning to attend college.  There are plans to publish a book of this incredible journey of a lifetime.

Don't miss some of the great pictures of their journey!
